Food is provided to Coastal Plains students at each site up to four nights per week based on student needs. The food program meets the needs of students for various reasons. Having food at the sites allows students to come to school straight from work without going all the way home. Research has shown when students don't have their basic essential life needs addressed, then it is very difficult for them to learn. CPCHS ran a pilot at six sites in the spring of 2021 and saw numerous students take advantage of the program. And, from August 2021 through June 2022, CPCHS provided approximately 24,000 meals for students and attendance has improved across all sites. Coastal Plains Education Charter High School works with vendors throughout our 15 partnering communities across South Georgia thus supporting each local economy.
